The perfect introduction to Bali is fascinating culture and handicrafts, picturesque rice fields, traditional villages and a spectacular lake and volcano. The first stop is the stone carving village of Batubulan to see the colourful and exciting Barong and Kris Dance. This dance tells of the eternal fight between good and evil and is an epic from the Mahabrata story. After the performance, guests will leave for Kintamani; travel from the palm-fringed shores of the lowlands to the towering mountains of the north, encompassing a cross-section of the entire island of Bali. A visit the village of Mas, famous for wood carvings and watch the workers enfolding the intricate designs from the many varieties of woods and also the village of Celuk renowned for its silver crafts is the next stop. The Elephant Caves (Goa Gajah) will also be visited. This is a complex built in the 11th century. On the arrival at Kintamani, guests will enjoy the spectacular views of Mount Batur with ribbons of black lava running down from the peak into the valley below. The crater is holy and there is a sanctuary at the top which is dedicated to the fertility Goddess. Lake Batur lies serene and shimmering against the backdrop of the mountains. The return journey brings us to the temple and holy springs at Sebatu and beautiful rice terraces at Tegalalang. A final stop will be made in the village of Ubud renowned for its artists and dancers alike.
