El Tajin is the ancient capital of the Totonac culture and one of the most important archaeological sites in the Americas. Its name means place of thunder and was named a World Heritage Site due to its cultural importance and architecture. After an early start we will head north towards El Tajin enjoying the stunning views over the coastline.

On arrival at El Tajin a knowledgeable local guide will take you on a sightseeing tour. The main attractions of this Ceremonial centre of the Totonac people include the Pyramid of the Niches, the Arroyo Group, the North and South Ballcourts and the Palaces of Tajín Chico. After this visit we will board the bus and head for the town of Papantla. This small town is internationally known for being the biggest Mexican vanilla producer and you will be able to buy real vanilla essence as well as a variety of products including drinks prepared from this delicious pod.

The town is also famous as a centre of the Totonac culture and home to awesome and dizzying in equal measure Danza de los Voladores (the Dance of the Flyers) which has been declared one of humanity’s Intangible Cultural Heritages by Unesco. Here we will visit the town's beautiful cathedral and the huge murals by native artist Teodoro Cano honouring the Totonac culture before returning back to the resort in the evening.
