Program details

Prepare yourself for the ultimate mountain high with a double-decker cable car ride to the imposing Stanserhorn. Feel the cool alpine air flow through your hair as you enjoy unencumbered views from the open-air top deck.

The excursion departs Zurich in the morning, taking a scenic route through picturesque landscapes via the Albis Pass and along the shores of the Lake of the Four Forested Cantons (as Lake Lucerne is romantically called in German) to Lucerne.

We’ll stop in this historic city for a brief tour of the main sights, including the Lion Monument, which was described by Mark Twain as ‘the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world’.

You will then board the vintage funicular train for a wonderful ride through blooming meadows to the valley station of the world’s first convertible cable car, the CabriO. The unimpaired views from the roofless upper deck of the gondola will send a frisson down your spine. Once at the summit of the stunning Stanserhorn, look down in awe at the magnificent panoramic views across more than 100km of the alpine mountain ranges, ten lakes and three countries.

After this exhilarating experience, we’ll head back to Lucerne for some additional time in this lovely city, where you will be able to admire the frescoed façades and fairytale turrets of the Old Town, and marvel at the wooden Chapel Bridge.
