Release your inner Indiana Jones and join us for this fascinating full day tour of one of the largest and most important ancient Greek archaeological sites.



You can choose either an early morning flight to Izmir or a coach journey to Kusadasi the night before. We’ll then head to the site of the ancient Greek city of Pergamon, which was the capital of the Kingdom of Pergamon until it was absorbed by the Roman Empire.



The adventure starts at the Aesculapium, the city’s medical centre named after Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine. The learned physicians who taught here were ahead of their time and pioneered healing methods such as blood transfusions, meditation and therapy based on the sounds of music and water.



After lunch, we’ll visit the Acropolis, some 3km away. It occupies a vast site overlooking the valley of the river the ancients name Caicus. You will see the remains of temples devoted to Athena, Trajan, Zeus and Dionysus are visible. So, too, the Gymnasium of Youth, the Odeon, the Agora, the Great Theatre, the Roman baths and the Library, considered one of the greatest in the ancient world and, legend has it, was pillaged so Mark Antony could give the books to Cleopatra as a wedding present.



Afterwards, you will return to ?zmir for evening flight or to Kusadasi for the night bus to Istanbul.

Excludes drinks and transfer from the bus station to the hotel (in the bus package) in Istanbul at the end of the tour.
