Maputo Special Reserve was once known has The Elephant Reserve, and it is one of the “Pearls” that Mozambique has to offer. It was created in the 60’s and saw the animal populations decrease during the civil war. This magic place is reborn with a new strength. The animals are coming back, specially the elephants, through eco corridors between South Africa, Swaziland and Mozambique. The Reserve, one of the least known places in the World, will give you an unforgettable experience with the huge Landscape variety, where the Indian Ocean marine ecosystems mix with the typical African plains and even dense forests.

Our guide will pick you up early morning (around 06.30 am) at your accommodation. A light breakfast will be served on board of our vehicle, while crossing the brand-new Maputo – Catembe bridge, where you will get a superb view of Maputo City. We will carry on our trip towards the Reserve, passing in the small village of Salamanga, where you will have the opportunity to visit a local bread factory and a Hindu temple (optional stop). The expected time of arrival at the Reserve gates, is between 08.30 am – 09.00 am (or earlier). Has we drive along the Reserve you will discover the unique aspects of the wild and its magnificent ecosystems filled with rich and extraordinary biomes. There will be a break for lunch in the wild. After lunch we will drive towards the Reserve gates and start to head back to Maputo, where we should arrive around 4.30 pm (delays may occur). Our guide will drop you off at your accommodation.
