Il programma nel dettaglio

Visit two of the great monuments in the Xi’an area with this full day tour taking in the Famen Temple and Museum, and the Qianling Mausoleum and Museum. Both the historic temple and the magnificent mausoleum, where the remains of two former emperors rest, offer fascinating insights into China’s imperial past.

The fantastic Famen Temple in the countryside west of Xian is an extremely shrine location for Buddhists Dating back to the sixth century. This breathtaking complex covers a vast area with 24 courtyards, four gates and an avenue covering 140,000 square metres. The central feature is the stunning 13-tiered octagonal pagoda, which when being rebuilt in the 1980s was discovered to be standing on a hidden subterranean palace. Archaeologists also found thousands of royal treasures and jewellery as well as the relic of a finger bone of Buddha Sakyamuni. These finds can be seen in the museum and the relic is now housed in the newly constructed and imposing 148m tall Namaste Dagoba.

Continue to the spectacular mausoleum of Qianling, which is located in a prominent position on Mount Liang. Here are the tombs of Tang dynasty Emperor Li Zhi and his wife, Wu Zetian, who was China's first and only empress. The Qianling Mausoleum is famous for its magnificent carved stone statues of animals and humans with distinctive Tang features.
