Il programma nel dettaglio

Sample the many and varied attractions of Suzhou, with its rich offering of gardens, temples and waterways. Suzhou is often referred to as the ‘Venice of China’ because of its beautiful waterways and architecture. With a history stretching back more than 2,500 years, it certainly cannot be accused of lacking heritage.

Your tour starts at Tiger Hill, so named because its shape is to resemble a crouching tiger. This popular destination has been attracting visitors for hundreds of years, and when you behold its dramatic natural beauty and the imposing Yunyan Pagoda you will understand why. Next stop is Cool Mountain Temple, also known as Hanshan Temple. This Buddhist monastery, named after a legendary Tang dynasty monk and poet, is particularly well-known for its remarkable bells.

Then we move on to the Grand Canal, which at 1,776 kilometres is the longest and also the oldest manmade waterway in the world, stretching from Beijing in the north all the way to Hangzhou in the south. Another popular landmark is the ancient city wall that surrounds and protects Suzhou; a unique feature of this wall is its system of water gates, designed to provide openings for both land and water-borne traffic.

But perhaps Suzhou’s most famous attraction consists of its gardens, outstanding among which is the Humble Administrator’s Garden, which has won worldwide renown as a horticultural masterpiece in the classic Chinese style and been declared a Unesco World Heritage Site. With its canals, gardens and temples evoking Chinese heritage at every turn, Suzhou truly has something for everyone and there is no better way to explore it than with this day-long tour.
