Discover the magical world of the Shire in this mystical journey through Middle-Earth to the Hobbiton Movie Set. This trip is a must for any fan of the Lord of the Rings film trilogy. You can see for yourself where all your favourite scenes were shot, including the Party Tree, the Green Dragon Inn and Bilbo Baggin’s House. A knowledgeable guide will tell you all about the making of the films in this fascinating guided tour.



The day starts when you are picked up from your hotel and meet your friendly local guide. We’ll travel southwards from Auckland over the Bombay Hills through the rolling countryside and rich farmland of the Waikato region. We’ll make a stop at the quaint market town of Cambridge where you can stroll down the tree-lined streets as you admire the charming colonial architecture. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in one of the town’s many English-style tea shops and cafés.



Then on arrival at Hobbiton, it’s time for the tour of the world’s largest green movie set to begin. You’ll get to see 44 hobbit burrows, the Mill and Double Arch Bridge and the famous Party Tree. Enjoy a glass of cider, ginger beer or ale at the Green Dragon Inn and then have your picture taken at the door of Bilbo's house, Bag End. Enjoy great views out of the Shire to the rolling hills in the distance before sitting down for lunch at Shire's Rest Cafe before heading back to Auckland.
