Il programma nel dettaglio

Travel to Iceland’s most magical sites, from geothermal areas to active volcanos, always with the beautiful backdrop of this country’s mesmerizing winter sceneries. Parting from Reykjavik, venture into wilder and weirder areas, such that at times you will feel in the midst of an alien landscape.

As you leave Reykjavik behind, your first destination is the interior geothermal area known as Landmannalaugar. Because this is a bit of a mouthful, it’s often referred to as The Pearl of the Central Highlands. Along the way, you will also see the magnificent Þjórsárdalur valley and the breath-taking Hjálparfoss waterfall, the roar of which sounds like the cry of a giant in this land of lore.

Once at Landmannalaugar, admire the colourful mountains in this region, born from centuries of volcanic activity. The chilly, raw climate bestows the phantasmagorical scenery with a magical aura. Ward off the cold by taking a relaxing dip in a natural warm pool, fruit of the combination of hot and cold springs. You can also take a leisurely stroll through the rhyolite mountain paths.

Continue further west and pass the ominous Hekla, Iceland’s renowned active volcano. Its appearance is so frightening it was thought to be the very gates of hell in the Mediaeval Ages. The volcano has, in fact, erupted various times in recent years, carpeting the barren land with ash and pumice. Finally, bring your adventure to an end with a return to Reykjavík passing over the marvellous Hellisheiði mountain heath.
