First Day: Half Day Auckland City Revealed:
Auckland enjoys a privileged position on 52 dormant volcanic cones and between two bodies of water, sparkling Waitemata Harbour and brooding Manukau Bay. Known as the City of Sails, it is New Zealand's largest and busiest city. This morning tour is a journey of discovery where you will experience the history and sights of this great metropolis as you learn how Aucklanders live and play. Your experienced driver-guide will provide you with a fascinating running commentary with plenty of fascinating insider information about all the different sights and attractions.
After being picked up from your hotel, we'll drive down famed Queen Street with its quaint heritage architecture and on through Auckland's central business district, past Auckland University and through the city's oldest park, Auckland Domain, located on the site of a dormant volcano.
We'll continue through the picturesque suburb of Ponsonby, with its historic buildings before heading over the iconic Harbour Bridge to Auckland's North Shore. There'll be plenty of time for a stroll on Narrow Neck Beach and a coffee at historic Devonport's many sophisticated pavement cafés before we make the climb to the summit of Mt. Victoria for some stunning views over Auckland City.
Then we'll travel back over the Harbour Bridge to Westhaven Marina, one of the largest marinas in the Southern Hemisphere, visiting the bustling Auckland Fish Market, before continuing on to the Viaduct Harbour.
Second Day: Half Day Wilderness Experience:
Escape from the city for an afternoon and discover the unique rainforest and stunning black sand beaches just 30 minutes from Downtown Auckland on this half day eco-tour. Enjoy breath-taking panoramic views and admire magnificent traditional Maori carvings at the Arataki Visitor Centre. Experience black sand surf beaches; learn about the flora and fauna of the rainforest and the fascinating natural history of this area with a knowledgeable guide in a small group environment.
After being picked from your hotel and meeting your guide, we'll head straight for the Arataki Visitor Information Centre, within Auckland's largest regional nature reserve, Waitakere Ranges Regional Park. Admire the breath-taking panoramic views down over the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean. As you learn about the area’s fascinating history. Don’t miss the magnificent Maori carvings that stand guard there.
From here we’ll continue westwards, heading for New Zealand's wild and rugged West Coast. In the company of your experienced local guide you’ll go for a walk through a well-preserved area of Auckland's coastal rainforest as you learn all about the local flora and fauna. Stop to admire the giant tree ferns growing alongside picturesque streams in this regenerating rainforest. You’ll also get to visit a magnificently secluded West Coast beach where you walk along the black sand and enjoy the bracing ocean breeze.
