What To Expect

Meet your guide at Piazza del Gesù Nuovo (Gesù Nuovo Square) in central Naples to begin your Napoli Art and Food Tour. Kick off your introduction to historic Naples with a visit to the Church of Gesù Nuovo (New Jesus), one of the city’s most important churches, dating back to 1470.
Admire the unique bugnato style façade, then hear how the church was first built as a royal palace as you stroll through the nave.
Before you move on, spend time browsing the church’s remarkable collection of Renaissance and Baroque art, which includes works by artists such as Francesco Solimena, Luca Giordano and Cosimo Fanzago.

Continue to the nearby church of Santa Chiara, the largest Gothic church in the city, which was built for King Robert the Wise and his wife Queen Sancha Majorca of the Angevin Dynasty in the early 14th-century. After peeking inside, stop to snap photos of the exquisite cloister behind the church, famed for its exquisite tile-work by Donato and Giuseppe Massa, using hand-painted Neapolitan ceramics.

Follow your guide down Spaccanapoli street, Naples’ buzzing central boulevard, until it opens out into San Domenico Maggiore square, where you’ll find the eponymous church.
Explore inside the 13th-century San Domenico Maggiore Church and learn its fascinating history as you tour the beautiful sacristy, home to some 45 sepulchers, including that of King Ferdinand I and other members of the royal Aragonese family.
After visiting the trio of magnificent churches, finish your tour with another Naples tradition and tuck into delicious street food specialty, 'Pizza a Portafoglio’ (folded tomato pizza).
