An engaging tour in a small group with a local guide, that walking through the ancient streets of Siena, will teach you about the traditions of this territory and will bring you to taste the most typical and delicious foods of Siena.
Traveling is knowing the different traditional flavors of an area. The goal of the Food Tour is to let people know the Sienese savory and sweet dishes. After meeting the tour guide, who will explain you in detail the history and curiosities of every dish, the group will head to the first stop for the entree, consisting of “ciaccino”, the typical Sienese bread with a selection of salami and local cheese. The second stop will focus on truffles, the precious and well-known tuber, in a shop located in the magnificent setting of Piazza del Campo. Finished the starter it’s time for the first course, in a typical tavern near the square. Here, according to seasons, you will taste typical dishes like Panzanella, Pici with crumbs or “all’Aglione” (local garlic), Pappa al Pomodoro (a typical dish with bread and tomatoes)!
At this point we can start with Sienese deliciousness: first, according to seasons, you will appreciate the famous “Bacio di Siena” (Kiss of Siena), a tasty nougat covered with chocolate or you will taste a variety of flavors of ice-cream and then we will bring you to sample typical sweets: Cantucci, Panforte and Ricciarelli, accompanied with a good glass of Vin Santo, our typical sweet wine.

Visit some of the city’s most beautiful UNESCO sites including Piazza del Campo, Palazzo Pubblico, Palazzo Tolomei, Palazzo Salimbeni, the Basilica of San Domenico, the Sanctuary of Saint Catherine of Siena, the Baptistery and the Duomo. The tour will finish with a tasting of delicious Sienese biscuits.
Discover the treasures of one of the most beautiful cities in the world with a local guide and immerse yourself in its art, culture and traditions. With a small group you will explore the best that Siena has to offer, by walking through the ancient streets of the city.
The Tour will start in Piazza del Campo, the main square, where you will learn about the history of the majestic Palazzo Pubblico, the city hall. Afterwards you will walk the ancient street Banchi di Sopra, which is part of the Via Francigena, the pilgrim's road. Along this street the guide will tell you about important Sienese families and will show you their palaces: Palazzo Tolomei, one of the oldest private building of the city and Palazzo Salimbeni, the headquarter of the oldest public bank of Europe. The tour will continue towards the Basilica of San Domenico which houses inside the relics of Saint Catherine, then you will discover the Sanctuary of St. Catherine of Siena, where she used to live with her family. Afterwards you will pass by the Baptistery and the Duomo (outside).
Walking through the city you will enjoy the spectacular scenery and learn about the history of Siena, its art, its culture and its traditions as the horse race "the Palio" known all over the world, which takes place twice a year. During this tour you will enjoy a tasting of some delicious Sienese biscuits, such as Ricciarelli and Cantucci.
Only if you have chosen the option with the Duomo included, you will visit the inside where you will admire the artworks of important Italian artists, such as Michelangelo, Donatello and Bernini.
