Il programma nel dettaglio

Japan's first permanent capital was established in the year 710 at Heijo, the city now known as Nara. Before that date, the capital used to be moved to a new location whenever a new emperor ascended to the throne.

You can feel different atmosphere than Kyoto. Visiting Todaiji Temple, which is one of Japan's most famous and historically significant temples and a landmark of Nara. Todaiji stands the Nandaimon Gate, a large wooden gate watched over by two fierce looking statues. Representing the Nio Guardian Kings, the statues are designated national treasures together with the gate itself. Temple visitors will also encounter some deer from the adjacent Nara Park, begging for shika senbei, special crackers for deer that are sold for around 200 yen.

Have free time in Kasuga Taisha Shrine, was established at the same time as the capital and is dedicated to the deity responsible for the protection of the city.

And, visiting Shin Yakushiji Temple. Inside the main hall there are life size statues of 12 guardian deities surrounding a two-meter-tall statue of a seated Yakushi Buddha, which are the temple's main objects of worship.

Finally, visit Fushimi Inari Shrine. It is an important Shinto shrine in southern Kyoto and is famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates, which straddle a network of trails behind its main buildings.
