What is a Must See in Stockholm? In our opinion the city is filled with must see places, but to make it easier for you we have narrowed it down to three main sites, the Old Town, the island of Djurgården and the Vasa Museum. These are some of our favorite sites as well as Stockholm must see sites!

Our adventure begins at Stortorget, the main square, of the Old Town. This is where it all began. This is where Stockholm was once founded. Here we will listen to stories and legends about the city and the people that used to lived here. On our walk we will also pass some of the most known sights of the area, e.g. the Royal Palace, the Coronation Church and St George and the Dragon.

The walk of the Old Town ends by the Djurgården Ferry which will take us across to the island of Djurgården. The ferry ride only takes between 7 to 10 minutes but allows us to see parts of Stockholm from the waterside. Enjoy the views of the Old Town and the island of Södermalm, the museum of Photography and a whole lot more. There is no guiding whilst on board the ferry.

Arriving on the island of Djurgården we will continue our walk through a beautiful neighbourhood that many people miss when visiting “Stockholm’s recreational area”. Aligned with wooden houses from the 1700s, we will walk along the wide street, the long street and the grave digger’s house. The walk takes us to the Vasa Museum; the world’s most visited maritime museum! This soon-to-be 400 year old wooden ship stands before almost 100% intact despite being under water for 333 years. 98% are original parts! It doesn’t matter if you are not interested in shipbuilding or shipping - the story is too good to be missed! We will give you a 30-minute guided tour of the museum and thereafter our time together has come to an end. Stay a while! Explore the ship and the museum, see the film about the salvation, visit the museum shop and enjoy a cup of coffee in the restaurant.

To find your way back into town you can walk (30 minutes), take the tram (valid transportation card needed) or catch the Djurgården ferry (buy ticket at the pier) back to the Old Town. Easy-peasy!
