This spectacular trip combines one of the seven wonders of the Ancient World, Ephesus. One of the best preserved archaeological sites in the world, Ephesus is, quite simply, unmissable. Wander down marble-paved streets where mosaics and frescoes still decorate the walls of the ancient Roman houses. Take in sights like the Temple of Hadrian, the baths, and the city’s brothel. And don’t miss the famous Library of Celsus, the most impressive of Ephesus’ buildings. The theatre, where 25,000 citizens once gathered to watch gladiator clashes and theatre shows, offers impressive views across a main street lined with marble fountains, temples and baths.

Pamukkale means ‘cotton castle’ in Turkish and as soon as you clap eyes on this place you’ll see why. It’s a series of mountainside terraces where natural springs have solidified into snowy-white stalactites and cliffs. The effect is strangely beautiful - a winter-like wonderland of petrified tiers and pools. The Romans first realised its potential, establishing a health spa here. And nowadays, people still flock here to admire the scenery and bathe in the main, thermal pool. You’ll start at the ice-white terraces, snapping photos of the surreal landscape. Then it’s on to Hierapolis, the town the Romans built.

At Hierapolis, there is a well-preserved Roman theatre and ancient thermal baths, which have been restored and converted into an archaeological museum. Other significant sites include the Temple of Apollo, the Necropolis and the Nymphaeum and the fourth century basilica.
