Imagine times gone by, of knights on horseback and fairy tale kingdoms perched high upon mountains, and experience the reality on this trip to the fantasy castle of Neuschwanstein.

Set in south-western Bavaria, Neuschwanstein was one of many castles and palaces commissioned by King Ludwig II to create his own kingdom. This architectural splendour of this construction is renowned around the world and it is one one of the most visited castles in Europe. Erected as a retreat, he dedicated the magnificent building to his favourite composer, Richard Wagner, and it includes a Singer’s Hall with pictures inspired by Wagner’s work. However, Ludwig passed away before he saw his dream realised.

A specialized guide will lead you through the opulent interior and audio explanations are available in 16 different languages. All the rooms are decorated and furnished in the most sumptuous manner, from the majestic Throne Hall inspired by Byzantine architecture to the dining hall and, in complete contrast, the delightful Grotto, once a dripstone cave with views of the foothills of the Alps.

Next we continue our journey of fantasy with our visit to the equally beautiful Linderhoff Palace. This place was originally a hunting lodge and King Ludwig was known to have resided here. The Rococo design reflects Ludwig’s fascination with the Palace of Versailles. The castle guide will accompany you though the dazzling splendour of the Hall of Mirrors and the stunning bedchamber. Afterwards, enjoy a stroll through the ornamental gardens and feel like a king.
