Visit the imperial city of Potsdam, once part of communist East Germany, and previous home to the Prussian and German Kings. During your day you will visit the famous Sanssouci Palace and park, and learn about Potsdam’s history of espionage.

A beautiful and intriguing city, Potsdam is replete with beautiful built heritage sights and wonderful natural areas, as three quarters of the city is green space. This tour will reveal a mixture of Prussian architecture, luscious parks, and of course Brandenburg Gate. Potsdam is rich in history too as a place where the exchange of spies between the CIA and KGB took place, as well as the location of the historical meeting between Stalin, Truman and Churchill when the three heads of allied governments determined the punishment for defeated Nazi Germany.

There is so much to see and learn about Potsdam that you will be very glad you joined this tour. Potsdam today is the capital for the German federal state of Brandenburg, it boasts Germany’s largest World Heritage site, and as it has been the country’s centre of science since the 19th century, today houses three public colleges, the University of Potsdam and more than 30 research institutes.

Throughout the day you will also see Wannsee, Glienicke bridge, gardens, the Dutch district, a fully working historic mill, other royal residences of the Orangerie and the New Palace.
