Program details

Wicked is set to become a Broadway legend and is the must-see musical of New York. The smash hit production is the winner of 35 major awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards and firm favourite among musical-lovers. Wicked is the untold story of the Witches of Oz.

“The Best Musical of the Decade” according to Entertainment Weekly and “A Cultural Phenomenon” as declared by Variety, Wicked tells the tale of the remarkable odyssey of two girls who meet in the mystical land of Oz long before a tornado lands Dorothy there. One girl, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. In front of a spellbound audience, two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good. The musical, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Winnie Holzman has broken records and stolen hearts in its ten years on Broadway. The production is directed by Tony Award winner Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento and with its incredible costumes, music and plot, it enchants audiences from the ages of five to over one hundred. This is evidenced by the fact that Wicked broke weekly gross taking records for London, Chicago, St Louis, Los Angeles and Broadway and has now been seen by millions of people, many of whom come back again and again
