Program details

Take the Battle Trail tour back to the latter days of the 18th century, when 13 North American colonies rebelled against British authority in a series of bloody battles that resulted in American independence. This fantastic day tour will leave you an expert on the founding of the American state, taking in a variety of important historic sites in Massachusetts, where all the action happened.

Depart from Boston and travel past the prestigious universities of Harvard and MIT, located just across the river in Cambridge. View Cambridge Common, where General George Washington took command of the Continental Army, owning himself a place in the history books as a symbol of republicanism and honest virtue. Travel on through the historic countryside of Belmont and Lexington, and follow the route of Paul Revere, a local silversmith who became a hero for his role as an intelligence agent during the early days of the war, and for his bravery as a Massachusetts militia officer.

Then stand on Lexington Green, where Captain John Parker and 77 minutemen stood their ground against 700 of England’s finest regulars in a battle that would mark the start of the American Revolutionary War. In Concord, journey past the homes of the great writers Hawthorne, Alcott and Emerson, and visit the Old North Bridge, a picturesque wooden replica of the 1760s bridge where the second Battle of the war was fought and won. Spend a day discovering all the details and seeing all the sites of one of the most important periods in American history.
