Program details

Travel back in time to Ancient Greece, the cradle of democracy and civilization, as you follow in the footsteps of some of the most influential and groundbreaking philosophers, politicians and architects to have walked this earth. Take in the key sites of this ancient civilization from the Acropolis to the Agora, the Parliament to the Supreme Court, learning about the men whose ideas shaped the world as we know it.

Begin your day of discovery with a fascinating presentation to familiarise yourself with the intriguing history and characters of this era. Learn all about the likes of Socrates, Pericles, Aristides and many more as you immerse yourself in Ancient Greece before embarking on the tour.

Your expert guide will lead you towards the South East side of the Acropolis, walking past the ancient theatre of Dionysus and the foot of Filopappos Hill, the spot where it is believed that Socrates was imprisoned before his trial for corrupting the youth and impiety. Continue to the nearby Hill of Pnyka, where great politicians such as Pericles and Themistocles would stand to deliver speeches and where thousands of Athenians would vote on decisions that shaped their city. Proceed to Areos Pagus, the imposing ancient Supreme Court where cases were heard and judgments handed down.

Head down the hill to the ancient Agora, once the vibrant and thronging hub of all activities social and political and imagine the atmosphere and the energy present when this was considered the centre of the universe. Take in the Temple of Hephaestus before ending this comprehensive tour at the informative museum in Attalos Arcade.
