Program details

Cruise the blue Danube to the sound of traditional Viennese music while enjoying a delicious wine tavern buffet dinner. Take in a different perspective of Vienna and see the city light up at night. The tour also covers most of the Danube Canal, which arches south of the old town. This splendid evening tour has a bit of everything that Vienna is famous for: music, food, culture, sightseeing and relaxation.

With entertainment provided by the incomparable duo of Erich Zib and his daughter, Marion, you are guaranteed an old-world atmosphere. They are among the leading exponents of a genre called Wienerlied or Schrammelmusik, which has been immensely popular since the late 19th century and has become of the city’s defining symbols. The melodies are sung in the Viennese dialect and the music comes from accordions, double-necked contraguitars and fiddles.

Feast on a tavern-style buffet while the boat glides along the river and canal. Heurigen are traditional taverns that serve hearty Austrian cuisine and young white wines from the country. They are renowned not just for their fare but for the special atmosphere that characterises them, a uniquely Austrian sensation known as gemütlichkeit, a mix of comfort, cosiness and friendliness. This is more than a cruise on the blue Danube; it’s a nostalgic journey to the old Austria and the last days of the Habsburg Empire. The tour ends at the Schwedenplatz pier.
