Make a pilgrimage to one of India’s most popular holy cities and then relax at one of its best-kept secrets with this two-centre full day tour to Ajmer and Pushkar. This cultural and spiritual journey brings you face to face with the essence of India, giving you an insight into its culture, history, architecture and colours.

Ajmer is a popular pilgrimage centre for both Muslims and Hindus, with the Dargah Sharif-tomb of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti being equally revered by adherents of the two faiths. Ajmer is also the location of the prestigious Mayo College, an exclusive fee-paying boarding school that dates from the British Raj.

Just 14km from Ajmer is the picturesque lakeside town of Pushkar, which has one of the few remaining temples dedicated to the god, Brahma. The lake itself is a sacred spot for Hindus and is situated on the edge of the desert. The town’s narrow alleys are flanked by whitewashed houses with rooftop restaurants and shops selling accessories.

Pushkar is renowned for its cattle fair held in the Hindu month Kartika, which is normally in October-November. The town becomes jam-packed with tourists from almost everywhere who bring with them several camels and cattle to the pilgrimage. Pushkar is a very important scared centre for devout Hindus and many take a dip in the holy waters.
