Program details

Come and taste the more kosher side of Krakow at Ariel. Part restaurant, part café and part gallery, this three-in-one homely establishment brims with Jewish heritage and, especially, cuisine. You are invited to discover the flavours of a Jewish style dinner with a background of traditional klezmer music, for an even more absorbing ambience.

Located in the heart of one of Poland's oldest cities, Ariel is found in the old Jewish district of Kazimierz, a safe haven for Jewish refugees from the 14th century onwards. Kazimierz is named after the king who embraced the Jewish community and invited them to seek refuge in Poland from the persecutions they suffered around Europe during the predominantly Christian medieval times.

Ariel keeps the flame of Jewish culture burning thanks to its abundant meals, heart-warming music and delightful atmosphere. Its café section and its art gallery prompt you to visit Ariel at different times of day and always encounter some surprising new element of Jewish heritage. Enter at night, though, and you will be enraptured by Ariel's most magical moment. Feast on their delicious roasts while listening to the Jewish music concerts and performances that are held every night. The happy-go-lucky musical style called klezmer – often interpreted with violins, clarinets and accordions among other musical instruments – is a music traditionally played by Eastern European Jews, known as the Ashkenazim, at weddings and other celebrations. Hence it's cheerful ring that will fill your Jewish meal with joy.
