Program details

Visit two of Turkey’s treasures: the ancient remains of the city of Ephesus and a traditional Turkish handcrafted pottery centre in Selcuk.

This day-trip will offer you an insight into Turkey’s history and traditions. The tour departs from your hotel in Bodrum at 7am and, after a stop at Canli Balik for breakfast, it will take you to Ephesus, one of the world’s best preserved archaeological sites.

Stroll down its famous Marble Street and see the grooves left by the chariots, walk around the 24,000-seater Great Theatre, once the scene of bloody gladiatorial battles, and see the Celsus Library, built facing east to capture the morning light. You will also visit the remains of some private homes, the public baths and even the city’s brothel. This 2,000 year old city will easily come alive again in your imagination thanks to its amazingly well preserved remains and the excellent insight given to you by your knowledgeable guide.

After this fascinating visit, sample a delicious lunch in the picturesque village of Sirince, located near to the archaeological site and enjoy what is surely to be the highlight of the afternoon with a visit to Art Ceramic, a traditional Turkish pottery centre in Selcuk, where beautifully handcrafted and painted ceramic plates and other objects are still made according to century old tradition. The tour will then take you back to your hotel in Bodrum at 7.30pm, with a stop off for refreshments on the way.
