If there is a city close to Oporto that you cannot miss, it is undoubtedly Guimarães. Regarded as the birth place of Portugal, and declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Guimarães oozes history, and can been seen in its many monuments and historical buildings that flood the city.



Stroll through the streets of the old town, and take in the unique medieval atmosphere, that will take you back in time. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to visit the castle, built in the 10th Century and associated with the country´s birth and the majestic Palacio dos Duques de Bragança, located on the famous "Sacred Hill" and the historic Largo da Oliviera square.



After a relaxing lunch in a local restaurant, you will continue and head to Braga, the oldest Portuguese city and religious capital of Portugal. For centuries the city has been an archiepiscopal seat and pilgrimage site. Discover some of its most popular attractions, such as the Cathedral (Sé), the Roman ruins of Bracara Augusta and the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, possibly one of the most photographed churches in the country due to its enormous white and grey staircase.
