Discover Bali´s incredible temples with this fascinating temple orientation tour. You may know that the word for temple in Bali is pura, which in Sanskrit means 'space surrounded by a wall'. On this exhilarating tour we will visit two of Bali´s most impressive temples; The Royal Temple of Mengwi (Pura Taman Ayun) and the Tanah Lot Temple. Begin your exploration at the Pura Taman Ayun; this impressive complex stands on an island in a river, its inner temple surrounded by a moat. Its Balinese name Pura Taman Ayun literally means ‘Garden Temple in the Water’. Stroll around the picturesque garden terraces with courtyards on different levels. Visit the sacred Monkey Forest, a cluster of towering trees, home to hundreds of monkeys. Watch the monkeys play freely in the temple complex whilst the villagers go about their daily work. Admire being with monkeys in their natural habitat, something so unique and special that you will want to take hundreds of photos to treasure the moment for years. Later in the afternoon we will drive to the Tanah Lot Temple; a spectacular temple that lies on a lava rock on the Indian Ocean. The view is completely breathtaking and the colorful sunset in the background adds to the beauty of this special location. Marvel at this sacred spot 200 meters off shore while your guide narrates the story of the poisonous sea snakes at the base of the island that are believed to guard the temple from evil spirits and intruders. A giant snake purportedly protects the temple. At low tide it is possible to walk over to the temple but entrance is not permitted. Treasure the moment when the sun slowly fades into the background while you savior the calm and peaceful feeling that is truly overwhelming. No trip to Bali would be complete without seeing some of the island´s most important temples.
