Head out of Pheonix and get back in touch with nature in the spectacular and diverse Arizona countryside. Walk along the Apache trail, once a small tribal footpath that was expanded rapidly by the hordes of prospectors who flocked to the area in search of gold and fortunes. Arrive at Goldfield, aptly named for its once rich reserves of the precious metal, to learn the techniques involved in gold panning and to marvel at the original mining gear used centuries ago.


Then head to the dazzling Canyon Lake in the heart of the wilderness for a six mile narrated nature cruise on the famous Dolly Steamboat. Keep your eyes peeled for the diverse wildlife found in this area such as bald eagles, big horn sheep and many other desert dwellers. Admire the 1300 foot volcanic cliff walls of the lake before continuing your tour to Tortilla Flat, the last surviving stage coach stop of the Apache Trail.
