Program details

Twitchers rejoice! This bird watching tour in Puerto Vallarta will ensure that you see some unique birdlife found nowhere else. Home to some 350 species of birds, Puerto Vallarta is a bird lover’s paradise. Green Jay, Tropical Kingbird, San Blas Jay, Yellow-winged Cacique, Social Flycatcher, Golden-cheeked Woodpecker and Russet-crowned Motmot are all common sightings in the area.

Your guides are avid birders and experts in their trade. Sharing their specialised local knowledge, they will help you to catch views of some amazing birds. They do not necessarily need to see all birds as they are familiar with the many bird calls. The first stop is right across from Los Arcos where the adventure begins. Here pelicans, frigate birds, cormorants, snowy egrets, sea gulls and vultures will be some of the first sightings.

Further into the mountains, amid the tropical deciduous forest, enjoy a light breakfast among sightings of Hummingbirds, Parakeets, Kiskadees, Flycatchers, Motmot and Cacophonous Woodpeckers. Continuing on to Mismaloya you encounter Robins, Happy Wrens, sparrows and Inca Doves, among others. As a special treat to end the tropical bird watching tour we’ll enjoy a cold drink accompanied by guacamole and salsa under the shade of giant white fig trees.

Let the wildlife come within one-and-a-half metres in front of you, as iguanas may join blue San Blas Jays, Green jays, Long-Tailed Hermit Hummingbirds and Yellow-winged Caciques.
