Program details

Head off the beaten track with this 4x4 adventure tour that takes you into the heart of rural Crete to the places most tourists will never see. Leaving the road and accessing areas impossible for normal cars, you will truly get a feel for the traditions and culture of the island as you explore the Lassithi Plateau, a peaceful land of citrus groves, vineyards and stone windmills. Enjoy a complimentary lunch in the old village of Agios before taking in the sacred cave of Pyschro, the mythical birthplace of Zeus himself. Admire the oldest tree in Crete at Krassi and much more on this memorable tour.

Leave the beaches and tourists behind for a day as you experience the true character and diversity of the beautiful island of Crete. Accompanied by a driver and guide who knows the island like the back of their hand, you will drive over rocks, grass and dust on this 4x4 excursion. First stop is an olive oil farm where you will see the process involved in turning this famous Greek fruit into the olive oil that is enjoyed throughout the world. Then climb up into the mountains to the Lassithi Plateau to take in the stunning Cretan countryside with its windmills, rolling valleys and vineyards.

Explore the stalactites and stalagmites of the sacred cave of Pyschro, allegedly the “Diktaean Cave”, where Zeus, king of the Greek gods, was born. Then make your way to Krassi, a picturesque hillside village whose main square is dominated by the sprawling branches of the oldest tree in Crete. Don’t forget your camera to capture this and many more unforgettable moments along the way!
