Explore the real Dominican Republic with this authentic tour where we will travel by open truck (Combi -Rover) while admiring some of the country's most spectacular scenery. You will experience what real life sugar, cacao and coffee plantations are like. The Dominican Republic has been known for its sugar production for centuries. From the colonial years of the 1400s, when a rudimentary mill called the “trapiche” was used to extract the cane juice, to the 19th century factories with their steam machinery, to the modern sugar mills of the 20th and early 21st centuries, the sugar industry has been the country’s main economic activity.

The Dominican Republic ranks first in the global ranking in cocoa production and export. In 2009 it exported over 62,000 tons of cocoa mainly to the United States and Europe. Coffee has been grown in the Dominican Republic for centuries, with the arrival of the first coffee seeds in 1735. There are over 340,000 acres of coffee plants in the Dominican Republic and you will have the opportunity to visit a real coffee plantation. If that leaves you needing your coffee fix do not worry as the trip will take you to a typical Dominican house where you will meet a lovely family and savoir a delicious cup of Dominican coffee.

The tour will visit typical Dominican schools so that you will see what education is like in the Dominican Republic.

A special highlight of the tour is a visit to the most beautiful beach of the Dominican Republic to freshen up with a dip in the crystallized waters while you relax after the day´s adventure.
