Head East out of Perth, cross the Swan River Causeway and take the Great Eastern Highway out into the Darling Ranges, home to beautiful scenery and wildlife in equal measure. Keep your eyes peeled for cockatoos and galahs. Explore the historic town of York before witnessing Hippo’s Yawn, the rock formations that resemble the gaping mouth of a hippopotamus.

Then arrive at the main stop on this spectacular tour, Wave Rock. An example of nature at its most intriguing, it really does appear as if a giant wave crest is forming out of the rock. Admire its beauty and listen as your guide leads you along the base and top of the rock and tells you all about its history and cultural significance. Satisfy your hunger with a delicious chicken buffet lunch at the Wave Rock Visitor Centre Café before continuing the tour with a trip to the native Wildlife Park and the Antique Lace collection.

Learn the fascinating story of Mulca and the ancient aboriginal cave paintings at Mulka’s Cave and stop at Babakin, a tiny town famous for its delicious country-style afternoon tea. In the wildflower season (September – November) you will stop to admire the beautiful roadside colours before heading back towards the bright city skyline of Perth.
