Program details

Transported in a luxury, air-conditioned minivan with internet access, this comprehensive tour visits some of the most impressive sights in the region as well as offering spectacular panoramic views of the main attractions.

The tour begins with Kaymakli Underground city, one of the most famous of the many underground cities to be found in Cappadocia. The houses in the nearby village are constructed around nearly one hundred tunnels belonging to this underground city and many of the tunnels are still used today as storage areas, stables and cellars. The floors open to visitors each contain space organized around ventilation shafts; this makes the design of each room or open space dependent on the availability of ventilation. Archaeologists think that this city could have inhabited up to 3,500 people. Following this, there is a visit to Goreme open-air museum, a must-see in the area, where rock-hewn churches adorned with biblical frescoes and dating back to between the 7th-13th centuries can be seen. A local lunch is enjoyed at a luxury restaurant carved out of a cave and then the tour moves on with panoramic views of Uchisar where there are great views from the elevated citadel and passing Pasabag and Devrent Valleys, famous for their strange rock formations known as fairy chimneys and lunar-like landscape. The region is well known for its’ handcrafts and before returning to the hotel, there is a visit to a carpet-weaving centre to admire the rich colours and expert craft of the varied carpets and rugs.
