Discover the influence and legacy that rulers of different cultures and faiths left on the city of Seville as you explore the Jewish Quarter of Santa Cruz and tour the iconic landmarks left behind by Moorish Muslims. Head to the heart of Seville and enjoy a guided tour of its most vibrant, historic and picturesque district, Santa Cruz. Formerly the city’s Jewish quarter, the neighbourhood maintains its mysterious and romantic aura through its beautiful old streets and the fascinating stories to be found at every turn. Then take in the magnificent Alcazar Palace with its beautiful Gothic-Moorish courtyards and minarets and Seville’s vast cathedral itself.

Wander down the colourful streets of Santa Cruz and listen carefully as your guide explains the area’s history as a Jewish ghetto. Following Ferdinand III’s conquest of Seville from its Muslim rulers, every Jewish person in the city was forced to relocate to this area with strict curfews enforced. Learn the many stories and legends from this time period as you visit its most historic and picturesque streets. Stop off at Santa Cruz Square to admire the fountain and the outdoor cafés that buzz with activity and wander down the narrow alleys of Santa Teresa Street as you are transported back in time to the 17th century and the founding of this Jewish Quarter.

Then head to the spectacular Alcazar Palace to marvel at the stunning Moorish gardens and extravagant interior of this former imperial residence. Take in the Courtyard of Flags, the Royal Chambers and the incredibly valuable Archive of the Indies as you learn about Seville’s Islamic legacy. The tour will also take you to the place of Christopher Columbus and officially the largest cathedral in the world.
