Let us introduce you to Es Baluard, Mallorca's Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the artistic heart of Palma. With a name meaning 'The Bastion' in Catalan, you will soon discover why Es Baluard has earned its status as an essential stop on any tourist itinerary in Mallorca. Nestled within the city's ancient walls, the museum has been open less than a decade and is already famed for its excellent collection and stunning views from its rooftop and terrace café.

Take your time to study the extensive collection of important artistic greats such as Picasso and Miro. Delight in the colourful collection of Picasso's beautiful, bright ceramics. Feel the emotion of Miro's two-themed collection: one a tribute to tragic French writer Alfred Jarry, the other inspired by his love for Mallorca, his home for the last three decades of his life. Peruse the exhibition of 19th century realist and impressionist works of Mallorcan landscapes and subjects. Allow some to reveal astonishing contrasts between the old and new, while others depict worlds where the sands of time have stayed still.

Venture outside the museum walls for breathtaking views over Palma Cathedral, Bellver Castle, the windmills of Es Jonquet and the yachts in the marina. Gaze out over the rooftops of the old town, or just relax at the café and absorb the bastion's fine Renaissance military architecture. Let your inner art connoisseur take over during your visit to beautiful Mallorca!
