Program details

Step into an underground world of discovery as we explore the history, art and stories of the metro and bunkers on this unique Moscow tour.

Take a trip on the superb metro, unlike any other in the world. Its resplendent stations will not fail to amaze. Dating back to the 1930s, the complex web of tunnels and tracks encompasses 188 stations many of which appear to resemble glamorous palaces of marble and granite. Fantastic frescoes and intricate mosaics adorn many of the stations while the platforms are illuminated by incredible glass chandeliers. Others feature curious statues or elaborate stained glass panels making this a truly unforgettable underground world!

Next we explore a military bunker that once housed 600 people during the Cold War. The discrete entrance belies the immensity of the 7,000 square metre complex located far under the streets. Descend the 60 metres and prepare to enter the secret world of the intriguing Soviet era during the Cold War. Designed to shelter officials in the event of a nuclear attack, this remarkable concrete edifice has now been turned into a fascinating museum where you can learn all about the tensions between the USA and the USSR and even experience the effect of a nuclear bomb explosion. View some amazing weapons from the period as well as the impressive communications system. After all of the underground excitement, what better way to warm you up than with a shot of vodka and an authentic local snack in a Russian-style cafe.
