Located at just seven kilometres from Puerto Varas, the town of Llanquihue is one of the industrial lungs of Chile. The town’s activity ranges from forestry to dairy and fishery industries. Salmon farmers also make a good living here, as well as the seaweed, cured meat and pork sausage processing industries. Visit many of these enterprises, including the famous Chile Modinger Brothers Co., along the way. See too at Llanguihue Lake the origin of the Maullin River, which flows into the sea.

Continue your trip then to Frutillar, a magnificently preserved town that dates back to the German colonization. Marvel at the area’s buildings, agriculture and monuments.

At noon, visit Frutillar Bajo, a resort famous for its German architecture and constructions. See too the highly enlightening colonial German museum. Other impressive sights you will come across throughout the day include a waterwheel, the house of the blacksmith, a beautiful bell tower and a large country house.

In the afternoon, after indulging in a hearty lunch, enjoy a walk wound the village’s typical handicraft stands before returning to your hotel, much more knowledgeable about Chilean history.
