Get up close to the fantastic flora and fauna of the Soberania National Park, just 24km from downtown Panama City, on this fantastic walking tour. Known for its excellent birdwatching and wildlife viewing opportunities, this incredible park contains two hiking paths, El Charco and Pipeline Road, which will take you into the heart of this vibrant tropical forest.

Colourful birds such as toucans, antbirds and parrots abound, along with bright fluttering butterflies, noisy howler monkeys, lazy sloths and the bizarre armour-plated armadillos. There are plentiful capuchin monkeys, as well as the long nosed anteaters and alligators. Cute coatis and agoutis run among the undergrowth, and the eagle-eyed might even spot a green iguana resting among the vegetation.

The Pipeline Road was the first paved road in the interior of Panama, dating to 1915 when it was a plantation road that led to a banana and cocoa farm managed by the American government. Nowadays you can still see echoes of the past farming in this area, with cacao trees, rubber trees and coffee plants mingling with the native rainforest species. Experience a little piece of heaven at the Soberania National Park with the El Charco and Pipeline Road hiking trip, the perfect introduction to the incredible wildlife of Panama.
