Walk past spectacular waterfalls, exotic animals and colourful flora as you make your way down the Plantation Road trail. With few steep slopes and an abundance of wildlife, hiking along this pathway is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Panama. Be sure to bring sturdy shoes and a bottle of water as the trail can become very humid. Waterproofs and insect repellent are also advisable during the rainy season.


Learn about the fascinating history of this area from the colonial times through to the 20th century when many plantations took advantage of Panama’s fertile environment to harvest bananas, rubber, coffee and cacao.This trail follows the route of the very first paved road in the country and to this day you will still come across cacao and rubber trees and coffee plants. Don’t forget your camera to take some great wildlife shots of the lush green forest and the vast range of exotic animals that inhabit this land.
