Program details

One experience you simply cannot miss while you are in the Dominican Republic is a visit to the Humpback Whale sanctuary at Samana Bay. The sight of these magnificent animals is truly a once in a lifetime experience. This full day tour from Punta Cana also includes an excursion by horseback to the incredible Limon waterfalls and a trip by boat out to the island paradise of Cayo Levantado.

Every year between three and five thousand humpback whales return to Samana Bay in order to give birth and seek a mate for the following year. Between January and March you can observe the unforgettable spectacle of uncountable whales leaping and frolicking in the water. Your knowledgeable local guide will tell you all about the habits of these fascinating creatures.

But that’s not all. Venture deep into the tropical jungle on a sturdy local horse. Follow the course of the River Arroyo Chico through dense tropical vegetation as we head for the magnificent Limon Waterfall, where the river plunges an impressive 165 feet. Enjoy a refreshing dip in one of the many natural pools (remember to bring your swimming costume and a towel).

The final stop on this memorable tour is picture postcard Cayo Levantado Island. Savour an al fresco lunch, Dominican style as you enjoy spectacular views of the Bay of Samana. There will be plenty of time to lose yourself in the white sandy beaches and warm turquoise waters of this earthly paradise. Or if you wish, you can simply relax and enjoy a cool drink in the shade of slender coconut palms.
