This area of the coast to the south of Granada enjoys over 320 days of sunshine a year and an average of temperature of 20 degrees, attracting visitors from all over the world. The coastline is indented with dozens of secluded coves and sandy beaches washed by a balmy sea making for an unforgettable day out.

After being picked up from your hotel in central Granada we drive southwards heading for Salobreña, a gleaming white village perched on a hill, surrounded by plantations of sugar-cane. Explore the Old Town with its this cluster of whitewashed houses and steep narrow streets and make the climb up to the 10th century Moorish castle if you’re feeling energetic.

Next stop is Almuñecar, a nearby fishing village founded by the Phoenicians over 3,000 years ago where you can still see the remains of their fish-salting factory. The Castle of San Miguel is a great place to enjoy some breathtaking views over the town and out to sea.

After a traditional lunch in Almuñecar we continue to Nerja where we stop to visit the town’s famous caves. This impressive cavern system, which was only discovered in 1959, is believed to be one of the largest systems of its kind in the world. Marvel at the incredible stalactite and stalagmite formations and wander through the series of underground chambers with such evocative names such as the Hall of the Tusk and the Hall of the Phantom.
