Program details

On this tour, you will follow in the footsteps of the world famous fairy tale writer, Hans Christian Andersen. H.C. Andersen was born in the capital of Funen, Odense, where you will find the settings of a universe of enchantment. In his early teens, H.C. Andersen travelled with diligence from Odense to Copenhagen, and you will now be travelling in the opposite direction: Across Zealand and the impressive Great Belt Bridge to the charming island of Funen to Odense.

Immediately after crossing the bridge – in Nyborg – our guide will get on the bus and tell anecdotes of Andersen’s life. You will hear about his many visits to manor houses and about Andersen’s life in general. In Odense, you will visit the Hans Christian Andersen Museum – the writer’s modest birthplace, and we will take a walk through the charming old streets and along the stream of Odense Å until we arrive at Munke Mose, from where Odense Aafart departs.

From here you will set off on a sailing trip on the canals of Odense where you can enjoy your lunch whilst appreciating the view and the beautiful houses on the bankside. After the boat trip, the bus will return to Copenhagen ending a pleasant day in the footsteps of Hans Christian Andersen.
