Program details

Prepare for an unforgettable day in San Francisco beginning with a visit to Alcatraz Island. The isle, informally known as The Rock, used to be a military and, later, federal prison. Nowadays, it's a lush national park, surrounded by fantastic views of the city. After the trip to the isle, spend the afternoon on an insider's tour of the lively San Francisco.

Begin the morning by making your way to the infamous Pier 33, where you will board a ferry to Alcatraz. Enjoy the morning sun's reflections on the bay as you glide towards the island that has inspired many thrilling tales of escape. Once on land, a short walk up a hill takes you into the prison. Step into the award-winning 45 minute Alcatraz Cellhouse Tour, where you can hear old recordings of actual Alcatraz guards and inmates. After that, feel free to explore the beautiful island to your heart's content.

Having spent a leisurely morning on the green, hop back onto a ferry to take you to the mainland and lose yourself in a relaxed afternoon exploration of San Francisco. As you spend some time at the city's main attractions, you will learn about San Francisco's incredible history, going as far back as the 1849 Gold Rush, down to the 1906 Earthquake. You will see the emblematic Golden Gate Bridge, the highly photogenic Ocean Beach, the Giants Baseball Stadium and much more; all this while passing by some of San Francisco's iconic streets, like Market Street with its cable cars and the strikingly crooked Lombard Street.
