Program details

Explore Barcelona through the eyes of visionary artists Gaudi and Picasso, and see how history and tradition go hand in hand in this vibrant, multicultural metropolis. Tour the maze of medieval streets in the Gothic Quarter, stroll around the modern Olympic Port and climb Montjuic Mountain with its impressive sports complexes as you learn about the transformation of this most beautiful of cities.

The tour starts in the Gothic Quarter, a maze of narrow streets surrounding Santa Eulalia Cathedral. Continue down to the old port, a recently renovated area, extending the city centre from the Ramblas down to the sea. In this attractive area, you'll find a wealth of restaurants, shops, nightclubs and frequent open-air entertainment.

Next climb Montjuic Mountain and enjoy the great views over the city and harbour, and admire the spectacular sports facilities in the Olympic Ring. The final visit of the morning is to Poble Espanyol, a charming collection of replicas of streets, buildings and plazas from all over Spain, which allows you to discover the best of the country’s architectural heritage without leaving Barcelona. The village also has many crafts shops and some excellent restaurants and bars. Then raise a toast with a glass of cava to Barcelona from this stunning vantage point before continuing the tour

In the afternoon, explore some of this great city's most important artistic landmarks. See Gaudi's Casa Milà and Casa Batlló, then visit Park Güell. Continue to the sensational Sagrada Familia and then visit the glorious Gothic Cathedral of Santa Maria del Mar, before finishing at the Picasso Museum (admission not included).

Duration: Seven hours.

Start/opening time: 9am. From 1/4/2016 the tour starts at 8:45am.
