Take a walk through Paradise and discover an idyllic spot in the city where peace and tranquility rules. Explore Gaudí’s stone fantasy with this visit to Park Güell, declared a world heritage site by Unesco. Don´t miss out!

Everything in Barcelona is just that little bit different and when it comes to parks, the city boasts perhaps the most colourful and curious one in the world as this guided tour of Park Güell will reveal. Discover Antoni Gaudi's architectural marvel on this walking tour and explore the most important sites as you learn all about the history of the park and its designer. Enjoy stunning views of the city and visit Gaudi’s former home, which is now a museum dedicated to him.

Park Güell was first commissioned by the Güell family as part of a landscaped housing development that would be a Utopian ‘garden city’. However the venture was unsuccessful and the area was bought by the municipality and turned into a public park, with a handful of completed structures left as a hint of what might have been.

See the colourful dragon mosaic staircase made from broken tiles and take in the views from the large central terrace framed by a snaking series of benches in the form of a sea serpent. Below the terrace is the vaulted lower court, which has 86 Doric columns in the form of massive tree trunks. Walk along the colonnaded pathways and see how Gaudi integrated nature with architecture. He even built birds’ nests into the walkways and terrace walls.

The park also contains a beautiful pavilion where the great architect lived for most of the last two decades of his life. It is now the museum and among the exhibits you will find a collection of extravagant bespoke furniture designed by him.
