"Taiko" is a Japanese drum that can be heard playing its bold and earth shaking sound at many festivals here in Tokyo. Even from a distance, the sound of Taiko can be heard and felt. In this activity, you will learn how to play Taiko from a professional teacher who has played Taiko for almost 30 years. He has performed worldwide and is very knowledgeable about the history of the Taiko drum.

The activity includes lessons of other musical instruments like the Takebue (flute constructed of bamboo) as well. No prior experience or knowledge is required to join it.


Meeting/pick-up point: Taiko studio (10 minute walk from Ryogoku Station (station E-12), which is served by the JR East Chūō-Sōbu Line and the Toei Oedo Line).

Duration: 90 minutes.

Languages: English.

Minimum age: 12.

Others: Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes for exercise.
