Description of the tour
You will spend a day in the countryside for visiting three of the most enchanting towns in the Veneto region. In the morning you will head to the walled town of Marostica, famous for its imposing fortified castle and giant chessboard permanently laid-out in the town square, where the famous living game of chess is played every two years.
You will continue with the picturesque town of Bassano del Grappa, featuring a magnificent Palladian bridge crossing the mighty Brenta River. Of course, you will not miss the famous distillery situated right on the bridge, where you will have the chance to sample some of the local firewater - "Grappa".
The next visit is the enchanting and elegant town of Asolo perched on lush-green hills. Along with its delightful gardens, palatial villas, beautiful Renaissance buildings, the spectacular views of the surrounding countryside have inspired over the centuries poets and writers like Robert Browning and Freya Stark. Here you will have free time to walk around this enchanting town or maybe you want to enjoy an optional lunch in one of the local restaurants.
Heading inland mid-way between Venice and the Alps, you will discover the beautiful rolling hills of Valdobbiadene, region famous for the production of a very important white sparkling wine called “Prosecco”, maybe Italy’s most popular “vino frizzante”.
You will visit one of the most important vineyards of the area to taste a glass of Prosecco wine and three other wines. Here you will have the chance to purchase a few bottles before making our way back to Venice.
