Program details

Discover the city’s astonishing musical legacy; admire its awe-inspiring architecture and its rich culture heritage while learning all about its fascinating history and the people whose talent and inspiration helped make it one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.

Begin your adventure through Salzburg’s old town at the Mirabell, which along with its beautifully landscaped gardens is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Pass the Mozarteum Music Academy and the Marionette Theatre, which for a century has been producing marionette performances of Mozart’s operas. Continue to the Markart Square and see the State Theatre, the beautiful baroque Trinity Church and Mozart’s Wohnhaus, where Wolfgang Amadeus lived for many years.

Cross the River Salzach and enjoy wonderful views of the city. Follow the river along part of the old fortifications to the Hellbrunn Palace, a delightful example of early baroque architecture, and enjoy a brief photo stop to capture the beautiful gardens and fountains. On the way back to the city centre, pass Frohnburg Castle, which was the Von Trapp family home in the Sound of Music and Nonnberg Abbey, which is located beneath the imposing Hohensalzburg Fortress.

Re-enter the old city through Sigmund Gate, which still looks remarkably impregnable. Back in the heart of Salzburg; pass the Great Festival Hall and Old University, the famous Horse Pond, and the picturesque Getreidegasse shopping street as well as the ancient St Blasius Church. The tour finishes close to the Cathedral and former palace of the archbishops at Mozart Square, where a bronze statue was erected in his honour.
