Program details

Marvel at the Mirabell Palace and its beautifully landscaped gardens, which together are a Unesco World Heritage Site. Pass the internationally renowned Mozarteum music university and the magnificent Marionette Theatre, which for a century has been producing marionette performances of Mozart’s operas.

Continue to the Markart Square and see the Regional Theatre, the beautiful baroque Trinity Church and Mozart’s Wohnhaus, where Wolfgang Amadeus lived for many years. Cross the river Salzach and enjoy wonderful views of the city. See Mozart’s birthplace – a fittingly beautiful townhouse – and the picturesque Getreidegasse shopping street as well as the famous Horse Pond from the Sound of Music and the ancient St Blasius Church.

Pass through the landmark Sigmund Gate and explore the upmarket Riedenburg district, passing by the Hohensalzburg Fortress towards the Nonntal neighbourhood and the imposing Nonnberg Abbey, which has stood on the same place for 1,300 years and still preserves many of its original Romanesque features. The tour finishes at Mozart Square, where a statue honours him, and which is near the Cathedral and former palace of the archbishops. This is the ideal tour for exploring the city in the shortest space of time.
