Program details

First, we visit the Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum, which is situated at Bajirao Road. The museum has a display of arts and crafts that were collected by Shri Dinkar Kelkar. There are different sections of the museum that have displays of and array of antiques, paintings, and sculptures.

From here, proceed to Shaniwar Wada, which was built by Bajirao Peshwa in 1736. This seven story structure was once the palace of the Peshwa rulers but it was destroyed by fires in 1827, leaving the mirror hall untouched. The lattice work and wooden pillars show off the extraordinary architecture of the mansion.

We end the tour with a visit to the Aga Khan Palace, which is also referred to as Gandhi National Museum. Built in the year 1892, it holds great historical significance as it once served as a prison for Mahatma Gandhi and other national leaders during the Quit India Movement in the year 1942.
