Here you’ll encounter a mix of state buildings from the 50’s and 60’s including the Bank of Guatemala, with its impressive high relief murals by Dagoberto Vasquez depicting Guatemalan history, the Supreme Court of Justice and the City Hall. Head further into the city centre to the Plaza of the Constitution where you’ll be encircled by the striking National Palace, Metropolitan Cathedral and Centenarian Park. In the heart of the historical centre a few steps away you’ll find the National Library, Periodicals Library as well as the General Archive of Central America. End the tour at the Central Market, situated behind the Metropolitan Cathedral, in the basement of the Tabernacle Plaza. Browse, buy and peruse local handicrafts such as ceramics, textiles, leather, wood and silver that make ideal souvenirs to take back home.

An ideal tour to gain an insight into the economic and governmental hub of Guatemala, you’ll be surprised by the history behind this city re-establishing itself as a cultural destination with the best museums and galleries in the country.
